James Elliott
Part-time artist.
.Education: Having undertaken 4 A Levels, in Art, Design, Maths and Physics, I then went onto Sheffield Hallam University to study the first part of a degree in Architecture. I am currently undertaking the second part of Architecture, in Leicester, and work in a successful architecture practices four days a week in Kettering. I hope to be fully qualified in two years. Inspiration: As a trainee Architect, I find it essential to maintain creativity, through painting or exploring other artistic mediums and methods. I am enthused by the way artists can distort an image to become something else, or put two unsuspecting concepts together. I like both Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte for their ability shock, inspire and confuse, but aesthetically, I find inspiration from the works of artists such as Drew Darcy. Darcy generally concentrates on a single object, usually a body, and creates a warm, sensual and romantic image of the body. This idea has been the focus of my first pieces. I am also a fan of Banksy. Not for his brave use of graffiti, but for his intentions to make a bold opinion on a political or social circumstance. This is a concept I would like to explore further in the future.
